Open Question: Couple of chinchilla questions. 10 PTs for the BEST ANSWER!?
March 23rd, 2010 by wood

Hi, I’ll start off with that I have a almost 7month old female chinchilla, that I had for almost a month and know that chinchillas are very picky eaters. Mines is only picky when it comes to the hay and she’ll eat any treats I have given her so far. She would never eat the wheat light in green-white color, stemlike hays or the ight colored leaves and she’ll toss it aside from her food bowl. Is there a way to slowly make her try eating it, cuz those consist of more than half the bag? I tried rubbing her treat’s scent on them, but she’ll lick the sweeten parts and toss it. I have Kaytee Timothy hay if you’re wondering.
My second question is what noise do chinchillas make and what does it mean? I’ve only heard two so far, one sounding close to a whimper sound I think made by breathing through her noise and the second noise I heard was kinda like a seagull honk/bark, which occurred when she was on my windowsill and a truck hit a speed bump.
Thanks in advance and 10 PTs for the BA! Have a good day.
