but he already has kids and im not sure im ready to take on the responsibility. this other guy i kind of like is a dolphin. hes really good looking, but hes a bit of a douchebag frat boy...should i just give up on marine life altogether and just date a nice seagull?

I have a few homework questions online and tried submitting it 5 times, and I keep getting not so good of a grade. I can keep trying until the due date. I was wondering if anyone can help me out with a few answers to some questions I can find answers too. I have completed some that I feel are correct. If I am wrong, please correct me and help me understand why that isn't the answer. I would really appreciate anyone's help. Thanks.

What produces gene flow?

-mating between populations ~
-geographical isolation
-blood transfusions
-mutation
-speciation

Two unrelated individuals with the same color skin

-would be no more likely to have similar alleles for any gene that any two individuals chosen randomly.
-would have similar alleles for repetitive DNA segments.
-would have similar alleles for malaria resistance.
-would have similar alleles for melanin production. ~
-would have similar alleles for nose shape.

You read that two populations of hyena are different subspecies. Which of the following would be true of the two populations?

-One group would be much larger than the other group.
-They have different diets.
-They can produce fertile offspring.
-Their mating behavior would be quite different. ~
-Their normal habitats are very far apart.

Many lines of evidence suggest that human populations aren't distinct races. What keeps us so similar even though adaptations to local conditions have occurred?

-Members of different populations mate with each other.
-Natural selection has acted in the same way for all groups of humans.
-Sexual selection has acted in the same way for all groups. ~
-Populations mate assortatively.

What prevents mules from having offspring?

-They don't develop sex organs.
-They have too many chromosomes to develop properly. ~
-Each mule produced is a different species from other mules.
-They are all males.
-They can't produce eggs and sperm.

You wish to study interspecies mating. Which of the following would be the best mating pair to study?

-a Great Dane and a poodle
-a green bell pepper plant and a red bell pepper plant
-a striped tiger and an albino tiger
-a lion and a leopard ~
-Any of the above would be suitable.

Which of these most accurately describes a single population?

-two rabbits in a field
-all the people in your biology class
-all the oak trees in a park ~
-all the seagulls in North America
-all the housecats in Montana

Apple maggot flies appear to be two separate races. What makes these races different?

-They mate at different times. ~
-They have different allele frequencies.
-They look different.
-They eat different foods.
-They have different lifespans.

The existence of superficial differences among groups of humans is primarily due to

-temporal isolation.
-genetic incompatibility.
-behavioral isolation.
-mechanical isolation.
-geographic isolation. ~

Which of the following occurs after the creation of a new allele?

-The gene pool fragments into smaller groups.
-Reproductive isolation always occurs in the group where the mutation occurred.
-The gene pool becomes less diverse.
-The rate of gene flow increases between groups.
-The gene pool becomes more diverse.

Populations that change due to genetic drift

-will then be subject to strong sexual selection.

-always start from a small founder population.

-will soon change back to the original form as a result of natural selection.

-have evolved. ~

-haven't really undergone evolutionary change, since the change is due to chance events.

Top 10 MySQL Mistakes Made By PHP Developers is a post from: PHP Frameworks

1. Using MyISAM rather than InnoDB

MySQL has a number of database engines, but you’re most likely to encounter MyISAM and InnoDB.

MyISAM is used by default. However, unless you’re creating a very simple or experimental database, it’s almost certainly the wrong choice!
MyISAM doesn’t support foreign key constraints or transactions, which are essential for data integrity.
In addition, the whole table is locked whenever a record is inserted or updated; this causes a detrimental effect on performance as usage grows.

The solution is simple: use InnoDB.

2. Using PHP’s mysql functions

PHP has provided MySQL library functions since day one (or near as makes no difference).
Many applications rely on mysql_connect, mysql_query, mysql_fetch_assoc, etc. but the PHP manual states:

If you are using MySQL versions 4.1.3 or later it is strongly recommended that you use the mysqli extension instead.

mysqli, or the MySQL improved extension, has several advantages.

3. Not sanitizing user input

This should probably be #1: never trust user input. Validate every string using server-side PHP — don’t rely on JavaScript.
The simplest SQL injection attacks depend on code.

4. Not using UTF-8

Those of us in the US, UK, and Australia rarely consider languages other than English. We happily complete our masterpiece only to find it cannot be used elsewhere.

UTF-8 solves many internationalization issues. Although it won’t be properly supported in PHP until version 6.0, there’s little to prevent you setting MySQL character sets to UTF-8.

5. Favoring PHP over SQL

When you’re new to MySQL, it’s tempting to solve problems in the language you know. That can lead to unnecessary and slower code.
For example, rather than using MySQL’s native AVG() function, you use a PHP loop to calculate an average by summing all values in a record-set.

Watch out also for SQL queries within PHP loops. Normally, it’s more effective to run a query then loop through the results.

In general, utilize the strengths of your database when analyzing data. A little SQL knowledge goes a long way.

6. Not optimizing your queries

99% of PHP performance problems will be caused by the database, and a single bad SQL query can play havoc with your web application.
MySQL’s EXPLAIN statement, the Query Profiler, and many other tools can help you find that rogue SELECT.

7. Using the wrong data types

MySQL offers a range of numeric, string, and time data types.
If you’re storing a date, use a DATE or DATETIME field. Using an INTEGER or STRING can make SQL queries more complicated, if not impossible.

It’s often tempting to invent your own data formats; for example, storing serialized PHP objects in string.
Database management may be easier, but MySQL will become a dumb data store and it may lead to problems later.

8. Using * in SELECT queries

Never use * to return all columns in a table–it’s lazy. You should only extract the data you need. Even if you require every field, your tables will inevitably change.

9. Under- or over-indexing

As a general rule of thumb, indexes should be applied to any column named in the WHERE clause of a SELECT query.

For example, assume we have a usertable with a numeric ID (the primary key) and an email address.
During log on, MySQL must locate the correct ID by searching for an email. With an index, MySQL can use a fast search algorithm to locate the email almost instantly.
Without an index, MySQL must check every record in sequence until the address is found.

It’s tempting to add indexes to every column, however, they are regenerated during every table INSERT or UPDATE. That can hit performance; only add indexes when necessary.

10. Forgetting to back up

It may be rare, but databases fail. Hard disks can stop. Servers can explode. Web hosts can go bankrupt.
Losing your MySQL data is catastrophic, so ensure you have automated backups or replication in place.

Please help.? is a post from: PHP Frameworks

Can somebody help me. I have a crush on an female anthropomorphic seagull that is one of the mascot from the teams from the Japanese Baseball League. She Is too cute to love. She is trying to be sexy to get me in love of her. So what if she take/kidnapped me into someplace and rape me to be a slave or being eaten. Maybe she will do it to me in the bed. And this is why my Horoscope is cancer and it's true that seagulls is one of the cancer's Animals/Birds psychic and that means it might be in more of the realtionship of humans if the bestiality acts are legal. And yes she has a name and her name is Rine-chan(and of course she one of the mascots from the Chiba Lotte Marines(and there League is Nippon Professional Baseball(Is from japan))). Here are pictures of her(Shes is an pink and white dressing seagull): http://www.google.com/search?q=%E3%83%AA%E3%83%BC%E3%83%B3%E3%81%A1%E3%82%83%E3%82%93&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=kwI&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=imvns&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=c9wxT_SfM4bx0gGk-tnXBw&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CBMQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=597 Please help me, get any anime, manga, or/and video game, character that i can tell or that can appear to get help to protect and/or save me from Rine-chan. Just make a list or one. This is really bad! Somebody stop her from bothering me! NOTE:I know that is an costume (fursuit) but if only if I was in the fictional world when she is just an only not an fursuit and real. Also for people who know Buffalo bell from Orix Buffaloes, this is another female mascot from another team from the Japanese league but if she harms me like she did to me then the same character will save me from her. NOTE: I know that I'm trolling but it's easy to get points and to get best answer because there many characters to choose from. If you answer without an character something bad will happen.

I was told by someone I work with who raises rabbits for pets or meat. She told me that rabbit's digestive tracts are different in that you have to be careful what you feed them because they can't, well, "pass gas." They can't burp or fart and feeding them the wrong food is tantamount to feeding seagulls alka-seltzer. They will bloat up. Is this true?

Open Question: WHO WROTE THIS POEM?!? is a post from: PHP Frameworks

I’ve been searching endless websites trying to track this poem & its author down but to no avail. I’m desperate to find it as it’s a poem I remember from my childhood that I want to use as a basis for my next project at Uni.. I think it may have been from an Oxford Reading Tree book?!
This is what I can remember of it…
“Most people like the seaside in the summer when it’s warm,
But I would rather be there during a winter storm.
The beach is quite deserted and only the great waves roar,
And seagulls drift like paper birds across the wind swept shore.”

Would really appreciate some help!!
Cheers!!x

Symfony 2.0.10 released is a post from: PHP Frameworks

Symfony 2.0.10 has just been released:

Twig has been updated to 1.6.0 (which fixes a bug when using Assetic in the
production environment);

Doctrine has been updated to their latest minor versions;

And as always, some minor bugs has been fixed.

The CHANGELOG
has all the details about the changes done in this release and you can also
have a look at the full
diff.

If you are starting a new project, you can get the Symfony Standard Edition
distribution on the download page.

If you already have a project based on the Symfony Standard Edition 2.0.x, you
can easily upgrade to 2.0.10 by getting the new
deps and
deps.lock
files.

Then, run the vendors script (it also clears your cache):

$ ./bin/vendors install

Remember that the Symfony2 Components are also available as standalone
libraries. You can get them via their dedicated read-only repositories on
Github (
https://github.com/symfony/Finder
for instance), install them via
PEAR (
pear install symfony2/Finder
), or even
install them via Composer.

	It's not ALL the time.
Usually, I sleep like a log (literally, if I rolled out of bed I wouldn't know any better).
But every now and then, like once ever couple of months, I turn into like an insomniac and I just cannot sleep. I FEEL tired and my eyes grow heavy and I WANT to sleep, but the moment my head hits the pillow I am up like a rocket and I stare at the ceiling until sunrise. I mean, I've spent so many days in a row not sleeping now that I can predict when the [bloody] seagulls are gonna start squawking.

I usually start off having a few nights where I only sleep a few hours, and then the hours i sleep get shorter and shorter... and shorter, until eventually I just don't sleep. (At the current moment I have been up for 3 days). And I know i'm tired, but lying in bed, no matter what position, upside down, back to front, on my head - it just don't work.
I've tried having a bath
I've tried wearing myself out
I've tried drinking warm drinks
I've tried sleeping tablets (Even with 2 full blown adult sleeping tablets in me I don't sleep).

And then after a couple of days (sometimes a week, sometimes even 2 weeks). I return to normal.... until the whole process repeats itself in the next couple of months.

Just.... why can't I sleeeeeeeep!!!!!!!! I wanna cry and tear my eyeballs out >.<
Is there someone out there like me?
Any opinions? Any help?
Additional -
I have consulted a Doctor. I have been like this for 4 years and every few months I go back to the doctor, complaining about the same thing. You know what he tells me? The list above that I gave you. So, i exercise, have a bath, drink some horlicks or take sleeping tablets - and nothing. 4 years, and nothing TT_TT
@Dunky
Hello. First off the Mania sounds quite like I am right now. I feel quite energetic, have loads of ideas (I write in my spare time and I soon plan to be a concept Artist by trade) but I have the attention span of a gnat... cross that.... the attention span of a gnat crossed with a goldfish.

However, I also suffer from stress very easily and tend to over complicate things or make myself stress over nothing. People tell me "Don't stress" but that just makes me stress even more. (I don't even think I've had a stress free day since I was like 13).

So, there are a few ideas... better look into them...

Thanks :D

Vh1 classic has a commercial that shows all kinds of symbolsym images (a flock of seagulls fly by.....a pumpkin hits the floor=smashing pumpkins) and I can't figure out what the one with the person with a black shirt with white wavy lines means. Anyone got a guess?

I have a Seagull Flame Maple CW and i notice when I plug into my amp with it and I play a bass note on it (anything on the E or A pretty much) and let the note sustain, it will continue to grow louder and louder until it basically becomes feedback. I've tried messing around with the EQ on both my amp and my Preamp and usually when i turn the bass down it will stop happening, but I find that that causes a large sacrifice in tone. Is there any other way that I can stop this from happening?

I have to do a project on an animal that lives in an unusual location, but I can't find any. I need to be able to:
*have the population count
*talk about how the atypical habitat compares with where you would usually find the organism
*Include abiotic and biotic factors
*list probable limiting factors
My teacher says I need to spend time observing the animal, but I can't think of any animals in my area that i can observe that lives in an unusual habitat.(ex. seagulls in parking lots) I don't think it neccesarily needs to be an animal I would have to observe, but I would greatly appreciate answers. Please help! 10 points! Thanks!!
