This article is quite old, but since 2009 Frameworks evolved a LOT.

Symfony2 currently at RC4 is almost out and it's extremely powerful, but lacks a huge tutorials section and documentation, but it's very powerful.

Codeigniter currently at 2.0.2 it's great but they haven't updated their tutorials and documentation to stay updated with the 2.x versions, which is bad. Learning curve is not as steady as Symfony2, which is great if you plan to start learning with codeigniter.

Yii is way more powerful than what it was on 2009, Plus their documentation is excelent and learning curve is lower comparing to Symfony2.

Kohana.. never tested it.

Zend OMG.. what a mess, i need a second brain just for Zend.

Cake... I tested it... and they lack a ton of documentation to stay updated with their latest release.. so it's hard to follow tutorials and learn. But it's really easy to work with.

Agile Toolkit is a high-performance PHP framework for UI development with jQuery.

High levels of efficiency are achieved because your database and your UI are seamlessly and securely integrated.

Achieve more with less code.

<b>Why another PHP framework?</b>

Agile Toolkit always had a different goals than other emerging PHP Frameworks. Most of those frameworks introduce themselves as a more efficient way to create a basic blog system. We believe there are plenty of blog packages and are aiming Agile Toolkit at more practical tasks right from the very start. It also brings an eco-system and culture of code to PHP.

Other frameworks seem to live in a collaborative space, where concepts are carried over with little innovation. New frameworks keep same practices as the old ones and only tune-up the performance. Agile Toolkit is seriously different. It has it's own heritage of 10 years of history — more than most of the other frameworks. However it's not holding to its ways. Web changing drastically and the current version of Agile Toolkit 4 is focused on requirements of modern Web Industry.

Agile Toolkit approach is very different. It does not attempt to be compatible with all the possible 3rd party code out there and it does not try to carry development practices in their usual way. It promotes efficiency and a multi-dimensional use of Object Oriented principles. Add-ons are built to maximally depend on built-in features, instead of trying to be self-sufficient. Simple things are simple to implement. Complicated things are also simple to implement.

Many developers decided to continue using Agile Toolkit for their own projects as well as Significant Commercial Projects for the simple reason — It's elegant. It shines in the hands of skill-full developer. It's exactly what have been missing from the PHP-based framework scene.

I'm working on something very similar and I'm having a problem. My situation is this: I created a form with a dropdown list of names with a ID as the value for each, along with more text boxes. The dropdown list was created from a MySQL database.

What I'm trying to do is fill out the remaining fields on the form whenever a selection is made from the dropdown list. I'm doing ajax to find the MySQL record and I build a series of echo 'document.getElementbyID(id field here)' statements for each textbox ID on the form. One of the form fields is a textarea field. On return back to my javascript I do an eval(sharpajax.responseText); This works sometimes on some fields, but not all.

I'm pulling out what little bit of hair I do have trying to figure this thing out. Is it normal to do something like this isn't?

They are totally different guitars. The Cherry laminate on the S6 is very lively, gives good projection, a mid-range dominant tone. this is softened somewhat by the solid Cedar top. The Blueridge is solid Mahogany. It has very different tonal characteristics, I would describe it as woody, a little less bright an attack as Cherry. This is balanced by the brighter and sharper attack of the sold Spruce top as opposed to Cedar. The overall effect will be a more balanced, nuanced tone with the Blueridge. It will show most in the dynamic range between soft or fingerpicked passages and loud strumming. The BR-240 should sound better throughout the range, but ultimately "better" will be a personal choice.
A more even comparison would be made between a Seagull SWS Mahogany and the Blueridge. In this case, the major difference would lie in the playability of the guitars. the BR240 has a narrower neck and a longer scale. The standard Seagull scale is 0.66" shorter and the width at the nut is 1.80" compared to ~1.69". Again personal preference will be your guide.

You might also want to try Ding (http://marcelog.github.com/Ding), since it shares the same need (to have/use a spring-alike framework for php). Supports some JSR annotations and implements most of the spring’s container features, aspect oriented programming (and some more).

In terms of performance, cache are used instead of php code, which results in faster execution as well.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it

NO. Ahura Mazda has no skin in the game. What did he do for mankind? Did he come to save the world and reconcile men back to God? Did he conquer death and the grave? There is a reason you find no historical account of Ahura Mazda. There is only one way to God - through Jesus. Jesus said so himself. Call him a lunatic or liar. I believe him as GOD.

Kajona is a PHP5 based content management framework, released and developed as an open source project using the LGPL licence. The system requires a relational database system such as MySQL, PostgreSQL or SQLite. Due to the abstraction of the database provided by Kajonas database-layer, nearly all relational database systems can be connected. Kajona uses UTF-8 to store its content, resulting in a system predestinated to be used for international websites. Since the system is written as a framework, external developers are able to enrich the system with new functionalities using one of the many hooks / plugin concepts Kajona provides. There are HotSpots for nearly every aspect such as for widgets, search plugins, elements or modules.

You have 3 questions here.
What is CakePHP?
What is MVC Framework?
How to programme with CakePHP?

CakePHP is just a framework (a systematic procedure) for PHP.
MVC Framework design pattern is yet another systematic procedure for programming.

CakePHP utilizes MVC Design Pattern to tackle problems with Spaghetti Design Pattern. As most programmers start out developing PHP using Spaghetti Design, they would inevitably experience tangled codes with Presentation, Business Logic and Data Behaviour. MVC sets out to untangle these codes by seperating Presentation, Business Logic and Data Behaviour into View, Controller and Model respectively.

Read the documentation of CakePHP to help you get started with it.
