Open Question: What major should I choose to be a web developer?
Mar 16th, 2010 by wood

I have AA degree in Web Media, (plus, BA in Business) and already know well about HTML and CSS. No problem with static websites. To be a more marketable web designer/developer, what Bachelor/Master major should I choose? I’d like to learn CMS Customizations, Framework knowledge, Ecommerce integration, Mobile website, PHP, javascript, actionscript etc.

Open Question: How to improve this, what do you think?

When I woke up the sun was shining through my window brightly even though it was still early morning. I rolled over and listened for any signs of movement but the house seemed pleasantly still. The only sounds I could hear were the screeches of seagulls fighting over a sand-covered sandwich and the quiet snores of my brother next door. I quietly slipped out of my blankets and walked across to the laundry. The floor of the laundry was wet from when we came home from the beach yesterday. I tried to jump around the puddles but they were too close to miss completely and water that splashed onto my feet was icy. I saw my bikinis hanging on the clothes hanger, they were still damp but I took them and got changed. Just as I pulled on a t-shirt, I caught a whiff of coffee and could tell that my Dad was up. In the kitchen he made me a bowl of cornflakes. He had added way too much milk and they were all soggy but I ate them quickly as I wanted to go surfing that day; I needed to practice for a competition that me and my friends were going to enter. The prize was $100, which, when your allowance is the same as your nine year old brother’s, is a very, very large amount.
Just as I was about to slip out the door Dad called after me.
“Charli, will you help me fix the fence this afternoon?” I turned around and looked at him. He was looking at me expectantly. I glanced backwards over my shoulders and focused on the ocean, which was waiting there for me, just a few hundred metres away. The waves looked particularly powerful this morning and I couldn’t fight the temptation of leaving them and staying behind with Dad.
“Sorry Dad. I need to go to the library, Mrs Jenson has given us lots of homework”, I lied.

Open Question: What does this dream mean for me?
Mar 16th, 2010 by wood

I had this dream quite a while back, so I won’t be able to remember all the details, but several points of the dreams really stuck with me until now.

Here is what I remember:

I was in my high school, and it seemed to be around mid-evening, at around 4 pm to 5 pm. I remember this detail really well because the sky was a beautiful deep orange, characteristic of sunsets and the like. Seagulls were flying overhead. There were students milling about, and for some reason, I seemed to recognize a lot of them, most of them being students in my class or aquaintances or friends. They were all talking and socializing with each other, and I was on my to my mother’s salon, where I go to everyday after school. As I was walking home, for some reason, the imagery in my dream suddenly shifted and became a scene out of a book that we had just read in my English class (The Things They Carried). The scene was a man driving a reddish brown pick-up truck around a lake several times, but in my dream, the man was driving around my high school, winding around the block aimlessly, not really having a place to go. I ignored him and continued on my way to my mother’s salon. Then some of the students who had been milling about outside of the school began to follow me, and it occurred to me that all of them were male. I ignored them too, and they even followed me into my mother’s salon. And then the strangest thing happened, the part that was THE most vivid part of the dream. One of the guys who had been following me, and who I recognized to be in my swimming class at school, began singing to me softly a Thai song that I knew and had heard of (when I woke up, I remembered it to be called ‘Wun Tee Bau Mee Ai’ by Tai Oratai) and was generally a love song. [For translations here's a website/forum: http://www.thailandqa.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31059] Make sure to scroll down for the translation. And then at that point, I woke up. Can anyone explain to me the signifigance of this dream if any? Thank you.
